Yesterday, our baby girl was two months old! I can't believe it. She's had her first round of shots, she weighs 13 pounds, is 23 inches long, and cute as a button.
We took her to a portrait studio today for Christmas pictures. She was so good - only cried when she got hungry. The photographer was able to get some really cute shots. Can't wait to share them with everyone!

Time Goes By!
Wow... time sure does get away from you if you let it!
Caroline ended up coming the day after her due date. She was also quite a bit larger than they estimated -- a whopping 10 pounds 3 ounces!
She's a month old now and has had a couple of soapy baths (vs. sponge baths with just warm water) and has been out to find a geocache and to Dreamette.
She's just as cute as can be! Which is good because it helps neutralize the screaming nights. :)

Content Caroline
Today is Caroline's estimated due date. However, she can't see the calendar from where she is, so it's not surprising we are still waiting on her arrival :). We had a doctor's appointment today and everything still looked good. The doctor wanted an US to see what was going on in there and check on the baby's size. She looked very snug in there :). We got to see her little nose and mouth (she was even sucking her thumb or fingers at one point), and also her bottom and a foot (looks like a "Vynanek foot" = big!). We also took a look at one of her arms and could see the rolls -- chubby :).
Her growth/size was ranked in the 78th percentile and they estimated her weight at 8 lbs +/- 9 oz. We have another appointment in a week and we'll see what's going on then if nothing happens before then.

Making Progress
Had another appointment today and everything looked good. Doctor said that baby is now at station 0 (she was -1 last week and we're working towards +4, so she's moving in the right direction). According to our childbirth instructor, baby can't flip herself around again so she's "in position" and ready to go.
I'm really feeling it today. Sooooo tired, and my belly is getting so heavy :). I've been having several Braxton Hicks contractions throughout the day which can be uncomfortable at times. The doctor says everything is on track so... we're still waiting! :)

What is Safe? What's Not?
Argh! There are too many options for baby gear out there! And how do we know what is safe and what is not? Seems like they shouldn't be able to market things that are unsafe, right? Sheesh.
For a while I wanted to try a baby sling/wrap. Then I read that they aren't safe for babies. So I was over it. Then I read that only some were recalled and slings are safe to use as long as baby is secure and her chin is not down into her chest, or her face isn't completely covered by fabric. Sigh...
Now I'm thinking about it again and looking at some different ones. We got a Baby Bjorn already and I think it will be great for Daddy to use, but the sling seems like it would be more comfortable for me to wear.

Maybe they were right...
Our Estimated Due Date: September 7, 2010.
Yesterday, at church, several ladies predicted that I "won't make it another week." These were separate conversations, not like they were all standing there and one said it while the others agreed.
So today I had an appointment and the doctor checked me out. She said that the baby is at -1 station (+4 means "Here I Come!") and that my cervix has thinned out, but I haven't dilated yet. She said I probably wouldn't make it to our due date.
Hmmm.....
The Comforts of Pregnancy
I know people are trying to be caring, but... we're in the midst of a record-making streak of days in the 90's, I'm almost 30 pounds heavier than I was a few months ago, I can't sleep for more than 2 hours straight, and I have to use the restroom everywhere I go... so, when you ask me, "How are you feeling?" it's a little challenging to answer! :)
I'm at the point now where I feel most comfortable in a few select pieces of clothing, sitting in the recliner with my feet up, box fan blowing on me, with a glass of ice water. Any variation from this situation wears me out very quickly! I am only driving when absolutely necessary because I can't look around me very easily and every other car on the road makes me nervous! My mom is driving me to the hospital for this week's appointment (thank goodness for mom!)
Baby V. is doing great so far. Had me a little nervous last week because she wasn't moving around as much as she had been, but the last few days she has been moving a lot! Phew...

The Countdown is ON!
Yesterday was the first of our weekly appointments. We even have all the rest of our appointments scheduled until Caroline's due date. A little scared, but overall I'm excited about meeting our daughter.
